The Washington University English Language Programs are designed to strengthen and advance the English language capacities of those who speak English as an additional language, facilitating students’ and scholars’ academic and professional success at the university and beyond.
The English Language Program (ELP) lies within the School of Continuing & Professional Studies (CAPS). ELP offers courses, support, and assessment in academic and professional English language.
Improve your English language skills by taking a course about writing, conversation, or presentation skills. English Language Programs offers courses in research writing for the sciences, social sciences, and humanities as well as courses in discussion and casual conversation to build skills.
Develop your English language skills through individual supports:
- Small group sessions with an English language professional
Our staff includes professionals trained to work with multilingual students and scholars. Each semester our instructors and tutors work with classes and individuals to help them achieve their English language goals.
To find out if you qualify for these English language supports or learn more about English Language Programs, contact our Program Manager, Katie Blackburn Brown.
