The Washington University English Language Programs are designed to strengthen and advance the English language capacities of those who speak English as an additional language, facilitating students’ and scholars’ academic and professional success at the university and beyond.

The English Language Program (ELP) lies within the School of Continuing & Professional Studies (CAPS). ELP offers courses, support, and assessment in academic and professional English language.

ELP Courses

Improve your English language skills by taking a course about writing, conversation, or presentation skills. English Language Programs offers courses in research writing for the sciences, social sciences, and humanities as well as courses in discussion and casual conversation to build skills.

Our Staff
